HMRC have stopped supporting older security methods of TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 which were built into Microsoft Windows operating systems.
HMRC have upgraded their system that requires computers to have this critical TLS 1.2 security for you to be able to submit returns to HMRC system.
If you are using Microsoft Windows 7 OS, it is likely that this has not been updated with latest Microsoft Updates.
It is important that you install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 and above.
Information below is provided subject to disclaimers.
There are a few possible solutions for this:
Run Microsoft Windows Update - The purpose is to ensure all Microsoft .NET Framework are installed.
Enable TLS1.2 in Windows 'Internet Options' settings
Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 directly.
