Symptoms:

During the installation of the software an error message as below may occur: "Error 1304. Error writing to file CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.CommonControls.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory."

File name may refer to another .DLL name: CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.[SomeOther.dll]

Cause:

The likely causes for this error are: Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 and higher versions are either not installed or may have been corrupted on your computer.

Solution: 

  1. Run Windows Update on your computer, ensure that you have not rejected and hidden any Windows Updates. Complete the update process for all Critical and Recommended updates.

  2. Download and reinstall Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 and higher from Microsoft Website.
If you are using Windows 7, Windows 8, Window 8.1 or Windows 10:
Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command prompt
Right click on command prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'

In the Command Prompt, type: "sfc /scannow" (with the quote marks)
System File Checker - SFC - will scan your system and (hopefully) fix some of your system files.
Restart your computer
